Futures

A 'Future' is a contract to buy or sell the underlying asset for a specific price at a pre-determined time. If you buy a futures contract, it means that you promise to pay the price of the asset at a specified time.

Options

Options contracts are instruments that give the holder of the instrument the right to buy or sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price. An option can be a 'call' option or a 'put' option

Forward

The owner has the obligation to buy or sell a contract at a pre-defined time and price. Conditions are customised between buyer and seller.

Swap

It is an agreement of barter or exchange of sequence of cash flows.

Hedging

To hedge means “to minimize loss or risk”. It means, taking a position in the futures market that is opposite to a position in the physical market, with a view to reduce or limit risk associated with unpredictable changes in the exchange rate.
