Wall Street futures decline
May 18 2026 5:34PM
US stock futures fell on Monday, signaling a return to losses as Middle East tensions kept markets wary as they entered a week dominated by Nvidia (NVDA) earnings.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (YM=F) slid 0.7%, or over 350 points, as rising Treasury yields and oil prices piled pressure on stocks. Contracts on the S&P 500 (ES=F) and the Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) shed 0.5% and 04%, respectively, set to build on Friday’s sharp drop.

The 10-year Treasury yield (^TNX) climbed, crossing 4.6% at one point early Monday before easing to just below the key milestone. Long-dated US yields also backed off highs as a global bond rout lost steam.

A rally in oil prices helped stoke the inflation jitters behind the bond sell-off and the pullback in US stocks from record highs. Brent crude futures (BZ=F) topped $110 a barrel as the US and Iran remained far from a peace deal, underscored by a drone attack on a UAE nuclear power plant.
